What Funds do we have and what are their aims?

We support projects and groups based in Devon helping local people in need.

Activistock Fund

To support community groups and organisations in the Tavistock area and villages which tackle deprivation and make a positive difference to the lives of local disadvantaged people.

Status: Open 

Deadline: 30th April with decisions made end of May 

Average number of grants in a year: 2 grants up to £1,000

 

Arnold Family Fund

For the relief of rural and isolated communities.  

Status: Open

Deadline: 30th April with decisions made end of May

Average number of grants in a year: 2-3 grants up to £500

 

Clare Milne Trust Fund

To support disability projects which provide services or support to disabled adults or children. Groups should be small, with strong support from volunteers and a modest expenditure on fundraising and administration.

Status: Open

Deadline: 30th April with decisions made end of May.

Average number of grants in a year: 4-6 grants up to £1,000

 

Comic Relief Small Grants Programme

To support work where there is clear evidence of a sustained beneficial impact or people's lives who are excluded or disadvantaged through low income, rural or social isolation, age, disabilities, race, sexuality or gender. Priority will be given to small, groups or organisations in areas of disadvantage that have a clear understanding of the needs of their community.

Deadline: 30th April 2012, 31st August 2012, 30 April 2013 with decisions made end of May 2012, end of Sept 2012, end of May 2013

Average number of grants in a year: 8-10 grants between £1,000 and £10,000

 

Devon 100 Club

Created by leading companies in Devon. Addressing disadvantage across the county.

Status: Closed

Average number of grants in a year: 5 grants up to £500

 

Devon Community Foundation Community Grants -  Community Glue

Supports groups that bring communities together and respond to local needs. Usually groups that are volunteer-run and have an income of less than £30,000.

Status: Open

Deadline: 30th April, 31st August, 17th Dec, with decisions made end of May, end of Sept, end of Jan

Average number of grants in a year: 10 grants up to £1,000 

 

Devon Community Foundation Community Grants -  Prevention

Supports groups whose main activities focus upon the advancement of education, promotion of good health or the relief of poverty and sickness.

Status: Open

Deadline: 30th April, 31st August, 17th Dec, with decisions made end of May, end of Sept, end of Jan

Average number of grants in a year: 2 - 3 grants up to £5,000

 

Devon Community Foundation Community Grants - Crisis intervention

Organisations or groups who support people when they are in crisis, e.g. foodbanks or homelessness services.

Status: Open

Deadline: 30th April, 31st August, 17th Dec, with decisions made end of May, end of Sept, end of Jan

Average number of grants in a year: 2 - 3 grants up to £5,000 

 

Devon Ripple Fund

To support local community groups and organisations which offer preventive work with disadvantaged young people up to 19 years old. The work should be offering young people the chance to lay down firm foundations for adulthood or specifically working with young people at risk. The fund aims to support organisations which work with young people around boundaries and their core confidence.

Methods of working might include:
• Mentoring
• Peer support
• Outward bound activities
• New opportunities and raising aspirations

Average number of grants in a year: 2-3 grants up to £5,000

 

Devonian Fund for Individuals

To alleviate mobility in relation to disability or ill-health. This fund aims to help people overcome or relieve mobility problems, such as contributing towards the cost of equipment that significantly improves individuals' quality of life. It can also help with specialised transport needs, such as accessible coaches or taxis.

Status: Open

Deadline: At any time

Average number of grants in a year: 15-20 grants with an average grant of £500, however larger sums of £1,000 or more may be considered. Each grant is assessed individually.

 

Devonian Fund for Groups

Dulverton Trust Fund

We are administrating grants on behalf of the Dulverton Trust Fund. Main areas of activity are youth opportunities, general welfare, and preservation. For more information please click here

Exeter Positive Steps

To support Exeter based groups and organisations to work with disadvantaged people on the journey towards employment. This fund is currently fully committed for the foreseeable future.

Status: Closed

Laurie Connor Fund

To support the following types of groups in the South Hams area
- sailing and water sports related projects
- rural pursuits which give opportunities to learn new skills and experiences
- gardening related projects

Mildmay White Family Fund

Projects which support young people and the elderly.

Millfields Trust Plymouth Drake Foundation Fund

To support small, informal, mainly volunteer led, grassroots voluntary and community groups and organisations in the Stonehouse area in Plymouth. These groups must be working with children and young people who are aged 25 years and under. The Fund will be used to support activities that promote the learning and personal development of children and young people in ways that enhance their employment opportunities and life chances.

Mumme Ackford Fund

To support small local groups across the whole of Devon (including Plymouth and Torbay) which are actively working to bring about positive social change for the most disadvantaged people in the community. This fund has a particular interest in young people and in work that enables people to fulfil their full potential.

North Devon Relief Future Fund

Originated from the North Devon Flood Relief Fund. To support groups in North Devon. Grants fall into three categories; Environmental; Recreational & Social or Educational.

Average number of grants in a year: 2-3 grants up to £2,000

 

Philip Milton & Co plc Fund

To support voluntary and community groups which work with disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the North Devon and Torridge area.

Status: Open

Deadline: 30th April, 31st August, 17th Dec, with decisions with made end of May, end of Sept, end of Jan

Average number of grants in a year: 4 - 6 grants between £250 and £500

 

Plymouth Drake Foundation Community Grants

To support small, informal, mainly volunteer led, grassroots voluntary and community groups and organisations in Plymouth and its travel to work area, enabling them to address disadvantage as indentified in their local community.

Status: Open

Deadline: 30th April, 31st August, 17th Dec, with decisions made end of May, end of Sept, end of Jan

Average number of grants in a year: 5-10 grants between £500 and £1,000

 

Police Property Fund

To distribute endowment and flow through funds raised from the sale of items unable to be returned to the rightful owner. Funds to be used to support community based groups and organisations in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay.

Groups will only be funded where they can demonstrate an established and ongoing relationship with their local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) which is leading to greater confidence in the police and a consequent increase in a feeling of safety in the community.

Ray Miles Fund

To help and support small local voluntary and community groups in Devon that are addressing local community needs.

Average number of grants available: 2-3 grants up to £1,000

 

Royal British Legion Plymouth Drake Foundation Fund

To help and support small, local voluntary and community groups which are addressing local community needs in the Plymouth City and travel to work area. The beneficiaries of these groups will be anyone aged over 16 who is or has served in the armed forces and their families and dependants.

To support small, informal, mainly volunteer led, grassroots voluntary and community groups and organisations in Plymouth and its travel to work area, enabling them to address disadvantage as indentified in their local community.

Rural Devon Future Fund

To help and support small, local voluntary and community groups in rural Devon. Groups will need to demonstrate that they are addressing local community needs.

South West Water Plymouth Drake Foundation Fund

To support small, informal, mainly volunteer led, grassroots voluntary and community groups and organisations in Plymouth and its travel to work area and working to address disadvantage in the community. The fund supports youth related projects including water related sports and those working with an environmental theme.

Throwleigh Fund for Young People

To support small, informal, mainly volunteer led, grassroots voluntary and community groups which work with young people and especially around the theme of accessing Dartmoor.

Average number of grants: 1-3 grants up to £1,000

 

Trinity House Plymouth Drake Foundation Fund

To support local groups and organisations which work with disadvantaged residents of Plymouth or its travel to work area to access marine activities, maritime education, and to learn about the sea and safety of marine based activities.

To promote the growth and development of individuals (via engagement with the groups above) through their participation in training or learning activities accessing and involving Plymouth's long history of seafaring.

University of Plymouth Drake Foundation Fund

To support small, informal, mainly volunteer led, grassroots voluntary and community groups and organisations in Plymouth and its travel to work area, enabling them to address disadvantage as indentified in their local community.
