Save the Children has produced a poll that shows that most parents feel after-school clubs are too expensive.
Devon Community Foundation has helped many childrens' clubs keep going in these hard times allowing parents to work, and offering a huge range of activities to children. These groups give children the opportunity to socialise, learn new skills and broaden their experiences, as well as helping families with extended, low cost childcare.
Most parents believe after-school clubs are beneficial to their children and their development, but the increasing costs, loss of jobs and the recession have all impacted on families' ability to afford these clubs, even when they have been subsidised.
