Exeter Storm Roller Hockey Club

The work of Exeter Storm Roller Hockey Club was driven forward by a group of children in the City who wanted to play this sport. With the support of volunteers, the Club has grown rapidly and the children themselves had become hungry to develop their skills and their competitive edge. The Club is open to all youngsters in the community and its popularity means there is a waiting list.

The group was awarded a Local Network Fund grant of £1,500 to take 35 young people aged 10-18 on a weekend skills and training camp.

The weekend was a huge success. Not only did 35 young people benefit from training which resulted in an improvement in their roller hockey playing skills but the event also resulted in both team and character building. As a direct result, some of the older team members have moved on to coach the younger members, which is a fantastic development of skills for all concerned.

"I  thought the forms were straightforward, but it was useful to have someone to discuss the application with over the phone."

"We really were so grateful to receive the funds and they were put to such good use."
