Ashburton Family Services

Ashburton Family Services provides a range of services that support families in Ashburton and surrounding areas. We provide a popular toddler group that operates for three sessions a week and a very successful kindergarten for ten sessions a week. In addition we run drop in services twice a week where parents and children can enjoy a simple lunch and mix with other parents. We also run a popular toy library and adhoc services as requested by our users.

The group has received two grants from the Foundation. The first, for £3,116, enabled them to run weekly storytelling and music sessions. The storytelling work enabled the children to develop their imaginations and gave them the opportunity to enjoy listening to stories, myths and legends. The music sessions allowed them to develop their musical talents and gave them the opportunity to play instruments that weren't available at home.

Their second grant of £3,500 was used to run play sessions for youngsters aged 6 months to 5 years. As well as involving children from Asburton and Bovey Tracy, the sessions were also available to those from the surrounding rural communities of Widecombe, Islington and Bickington.
